35th Powerman Zofingen - An anniversary with many highlights

In two months' time, the Powerman Zofingen will be held for the 35th time. Zofingen will also host the long-distance duathlon world championships for the 16th time. The weekend on 7/8 September 2024 will be dedicated to the sport of duathlon. The competition Saturday and Experience Day will be expanded this year. Various children's and school races, charity events and a broad supporting programme will take place on this day. Many highlights await participants and visitors at the Powerman Zofingen.

At the Powerman Zofingen, the duathlon elite will be competing for the world championship title for the 13th time in a row. Athletes often only decide at short notice where they will start. However, it is expected that the German Merle Brunée and the Dane Simon Jörn Hansen will be looking to defend their world championship titles from last year in Zofingen. Spectators can definitely look forward to exciting duels on the most beautiful and toughest duathlon course in the world. As last year, the finish area and transition zone will be located on the Schützenmatte.

The Experience Day will be on Saturday

On the first competition day of the Powerman Zofingen, Experience Day, the focus will be on young duathlon athletes. From the very young to the teenagers, there is a suitable race category and course. The 6- to 7-year-olds in the PowerKids category, for example, complete 700 metres on the running course, interrupted by a 1.25-kilometre bike course.  For the 12- to 15-year-olds in the PowerTeens category, the programme includes two and a half kilometres of running and five kilometres of cycling. The PowerClass class championship will also take place on Saturday as a new format. Two or three class representatives will compete in teams to not only honour their class, but also to win the coveted challenge cup for their school. You can also take part in the PowerSprints on this competition day. The Swiss Youth and Junior Championships are held in this short duathlon category.

Two charity events

Two charity events will take place on Saturday. At the charity run, you can complete the 1.25 kilometre running course up to four times. A fixed portion of the entry fee will be donated to the Aargau Cancer League. The Aargau Cancer League aims to improve the quality of life of people affected by cancer, is specifically committed to the prevention and early detection of cancer and promotes independent cancer research. Participants in the Charity Bike Tour can venture out on a 25 or 50 kilometre cycle route. Part of the entry fee will be donated directly to the "Nadikia Charity Foundation Zofingen" patrons' association, which supports the NGO of the same name in Kampala, Uganda. This small, efficient NGO provides over 300 orphans and disadvantaged young people with educational and vocational skills to create a future for them in their own country. The registration fee for both charity events is reduced until 31 August.

Varied programme

In addition to the races, there will be a varied programme on Experience Day. Young and old will gather on the Schulhauswiese with the aim of organising the biggest flash mob in Switzerland. The Zofingen dance school will perform spectacular dance shows. There will be fun and games for children and young people, including a bike course and goal wall shooting. A small Streefood Festival with food trucks and snack stands around the school building and the Kunsthaus will provide a variety of culinary delights. At the Expo exhibition, you can find out about the latest trends in duathlon sport.
